We know how important it is to have a trusted platform on which you can upload your files and have access to them anytime. Dropbox for Mac is a free and easy to use app that can be installed on any device, allowing real time access to uploaded content. With this app users can also share files with friends, simply by sending them a link to the file.
To start with, the interface is very friendly and easy to use. You get a main menu in which you can either check the most recent files or all time uploads. We tested how fast files are uploaded and we were amazed by the speed Dropbox offers. To upload a file you can hit the Add button in the Files menu. You can find it as a blue circle with a “+” sign on it. Then select the files from your Mac device and wait a few seconds until the upload is complete. With the free version you can upload up to 2 GB but you can earn more while using the Basic version. For instance, you get extra storage if you complete the starter’s guide, if you give feedback or follow Dropbox on social media or if you refer your friends. If you need more than that, then you can go with the Dropbox Plus version for 1 TB of storage.
Dropbox can also be used to scan documents. Simply hit the Add button and then select to Scan a Document. Your device’s camera will be used as a scanner and after taking a picture you can edit the file. You can create a PDF file with more scanned pages and input the name that you want. If you need scans as images, then you can select the PNG file type. Since people don’t have access to a scanner everywhere, Dropbox for Mac is a good solution.
The Main menu also offers a Settings section, in which users can set up their preferences. We chose to synchronize and upload files when using Wi-Fi connections, to ensure that there won’t be any data overcharges. All uploaded files can be accessed from any device using Dropbox, as long as the user is connected to his account. In addition, users can save files to read and edit when located outside of network coverage. This is a good feature for those who want to edit documents or to read a book while travelling or going in vacation.
