Quicksilver for Mac OS X is a quick and easy to install utility application that makes it possible for you to launch your commonly used application easily from keyboard shortcuts. With the stroke of a few keys, Quicksilver will make it easy to access your most important programs like music, contacts, apps, and files.
This free application comes with an inbuilt installer which makes it easy to install. Although it comes packed with multiple built-in features that you’ll find handy in your day-to-day computer usage, this app is lightweight and won’t take up much space in your drive. Once you have installed it, you can begin to use it by pressing the Quicksilver hotkeys. Default preset hot keys feature popular actions and programs but the manufacturer gives you leeway to change these and add others according to your preference.
Quicksilver features a fully customizable user interface. What this means is that you can change the default Bezel interface into one that you’re more comfortable with of the more modern ones in the wide range of interfaces. What’s more, you can also customize the colors and transparency levels of lists, texts and panes.
Quicksilver makes it easier for you to access your installed apps through plugins installation. On launching the application, the set-up assistant will recommend to you the most important plugins, although you can add more from the 100 plus available plugins. There are lots of impossibilities when using plugins. You can easily access your Clipboard history, perform fuzzy web searches with any search engine and even access the windows and menus of running applications by using User Interface plugin for instance.
What makes Quicksilver more than just a launcher is the fact that it adapts and learns your way of doing things on your computer instead of the other way round. For instance if you love to manage your content through directly grabbing selected content or through drag and drop it will make it easier and more comfortable for you to do this. The app is designed to be extremely flexible such that there are multiple ways to do every task, whether it’s searching and sending a file to a contact or opening and copying folder contents.
